Branching Out Adventures is on a mission to celebrate queerness through community, education, and connection to the outdoors. Recognizing the positive impact of nature on mental and physical well-being, BOA aims to address the barriers faced by the LGBTQ+ community in accessing outdoor recreation. These barriers include historical and ongoing exclusion, the threat of violence, financial constraints, and the current political climate.

By creating queer-specific spaces outdoors, we hope to bridge the gap and cultivates a sense of joy in being queer outside. Our programs primarily serve LGBTQ+ community members in Central and Northern California.

We offer a range of programs designed to engage and empower participants. Our day programs provide opportunities for shorter three to six hour meetups, including activities like hikes, bike rides, tide pooling, nature journaling, and habitat restoration. For a deeper queer experience, Queer CampOUT and OUT Backpacking trips offer one to three night excursions to campgrounds and the backcountry, respectively. These programs integrate facilitated conversations on queer topics into outdoor adventures, fostering cohort connections.
